This wonderful, self-contained calabash gourd African nativity scene was handmade by skilled artisans in Kenya. A calabash gourd was hollowed out, dyed a vibrant red and beautifully carved with 3 stars, 3 camels and 3 wise men. The star-etched back can be removed from the gourd by unhooking rubberband loops from the cowry shells on either side. Inside the gourd you will find an intricately crafted banana fiber figurine nativity scene. Because they are handmade from natural materials, your gourd, the carving and nativity scene inside will not look exactly like the one pictured, but will very closely resemble it.
