This adorable free standing baobab tree was handmade in Kenya using banana fibers. The sculpture is made with recycled wire which makes the branches malleable. For this reason, this tree would make it perfect for hanging jewelry like earrings or rings. Baobab trees are native to regions of mainland Africa. They are traditionally known as the tree of life for good reason. They provide shelter, food, and water for animals and humans. The Banana fibers used to make this sculpture are extracted from the stalks of banana trees, which is waste product following banana harvest. The fiber is very durable and can be processed in many ways to become functional for making handicrafts, paper, and even silks. Because they are handmade, there will be slight variation.
