This lovely, self-contained African nativity scene was handmade by skilled artisans in Kenya. Each piece--from the stable box to the smallest figurine--was intricately crafted by hand from banana fiber. Banana fibers are extracted from the stalks of banana trees, which is waste product following banana harvest. The fiber is very durable and can be processed in many ways to become functional for making handicrafts, paper, and even silks. This banana fiber nativity scene contains 11 figurines: Joseph, Mary, Baby Jesus, 3 Wise Men, 3 Shephards and 2 animals. Joseph, Mary, the Wise Men and the Shephards are all mounted on wood rounds. The front of the stable box opens for display and then closes with a stick and loop closure. All of the figures fit nicely into the stable box for convenient storage and safe-keeping. This African handmade nativity scene would be an absolutely beautiful and unique addition to your Christmas decor!
